The Martini (Or Martini Shot) is the final shot of any given shooting day. Possibly named for Clark Gable’s contractual 5pm end time (in time to get home and have a Martini).
The Abbie Singer is the second-to-last shot of the day. Named for Assistant Director Abbie Singer who would often miss-call the penultimate shot as the Martini.
The DeMille is an actor’s close-up shot in the scene. Letting the actor know any particular shot is their “DeMille” informs them that it’s time to bring the acting goods and be on their A-game. Named for Norma’s last line from Sunset Boulevard; “All right Mr. Demille, I’m ready for my close-up.”
